WHAT IS DRX-9000?

The DRX9000 is a state-of-the-art lumbar decompression machine that literally helps to reduce the pressure of herniated discs, allowing the lumbar disc to recede away from the spinal nerve, effectively causing decreased nerve pressure and decreased pain. The overall results are:

HISTORY

The DRX9000 was first developed in early 1990. The technology was first introduced into mainstream low back pain treatment following initial research on a similar machine called the VAX-D.

HOW DO I KNOW IF THE DRX-9000 IS RIGHT FOR ME?

The doctors at Connecticut Family Chiropractic have one of the few DRX9000 machines available at locations between Hartford and New York City. The DRX9000 is specifically designed to treat serious low back or lumbar conditions. At Connecticut Family Chiropractic, our chiropractic physicians are highly trained to diagnose lumbar disc herniation and to determine whether the patient is a candidate for the lumbar DRX9000 treatments. If patients have had longstanding lumbar pain both acute, subacute, and chronic that also radiate into the legs then a patient is likely a candidate for the DRX9000 treatment.

HOW DOES DRS-9000 WORKS ?

Lumbar disc pathology, chronic lumbar facet syndrome, lumbar nerve root compression, central canal stenosis, interforaminal stenosis with nerve root compression, and variety of other low back conditions are treated with a special DRX9000 lumbar decompression machine. The lumbar decompression machine is a computer controlled precision lumbar traction device that allows for specific traction forces to be applied to the lower back in specific repetitive timing intervals, which allow for the muscles to relax and the lumbar disc to be gently stretched causing a vacuum within the disc, which helps to gently move the herniated disc material away from the lumbar nerve root. This reduction in nerve pressure specifically reduces pain, numbness and tingling. In addition, the lumbar facets are distracted and pressure is reduced in this region of the low back, which is also a highly pain sensitive region. In addition, electrotherapeutic physical therapy modalities are generally applied by form of initially moist heat followed by interferential electrostimulation. All steps in this procedure are designed to reduce pain, numbness and tingling in the low back, legs, neck, shoulder and arms.

LUMBER DISC CONDITIONS

At Connecticut Family Chiropractic, we have helped thousands of patients with lumbar disc herniation and lumbar disc degeneration as well as lumbar osteoarthritis. Low back pain with lumbar nerve root compression is usually a very debilitating condition. Lumbar disc herniation is often associated with severe lower back pain with radiation into one or both legs, numbness, tingling, and even at times leg muscular weakness. Some patients report having recent injuries to the lower back and some report injuries to the lower back years prior and some report no injury at all. The mechanism of onset for this condition is most often due to repetitive microtrauma, occurring often times in patients who frequently bend, frequently sit for long periods, and frequently lift.

In certain instances trauma such as violent rear-end collision in auto accidents can also precipitate lumbar disc syndrome that may be responsive to DRX9000 treatment. At times, gentle chiropractic adjustment or manipulation may also be utilized to help quicken the results of the lumbar DRX9000.

The chiropractic doctors at Connecticut Family Chiropractic will perform a complete examination beginning with a detailed history of the condition as well as past histories related to the condition followed by a thorough physical examination including range of motion testing, neurological testing to see to determine if there are positive neurological findings indicative of more significant nerve root compression. Often times, x-ray examination will be performed as well as lumbar MRI examination, which will indicate the exact nature and level of the lumbar disc herniation and other important findings

WHY DIDN’T MY OTHER DOCTORS TELL ME ABOUT THIS TREATMENT OPTION?

More and more doctors today are referring patients for this treatment. Today, at Connecticut Family Chiropractic, more than one half of our patients are referred by their doctors for lumbar disc treatment.

However, some of our patients don’t understand why their other doctors including orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons have not told them about the DRX9000. This is often because some of these doctors are not aware that such technology exists. More and more doctors today are learning about the great results from the DRX9000 and are seeing results in their own patients after treatment in our offices. The DRX9000 has become more popular within the past 5 to 10 years. Many orthopedic and neurosurgeons were trained in their fields 15 years or more ago. Often it is also because they have not had first-hand experience with lumbar DRX9000 treatments. Please know that many orthopedic and neurosurgeons today do refer their patients for evaluation by chiropractic physicians and for DRX9000 treatment. In many cases, patients have been able to avoid surgery and avoid other pain management techniques including epidural injection by the use of the DRX9000 system.
